All Your Uteri Are Belong To Us!

Sometimes it often feels as if the world is going nuts. What's with the people of South Dakota and they crazy idea to take away the the right of a woman to choose?
More male power at work under the guise of religion. Leave women with the right to make that choice. It is not anyone else's business certainly not the state's. And hence forth, as the progressive blogosphere has said state of South Dakota will be known as the Coat Hanger state (referring to the practice of women using coat hangers or knitting needles to self induce abortions before Roe v Wade).
South Dakota recently passed a bone headed abortion ban that pretty much shuts out the rights of women from that state to choose. There are constitutional issues with this law and it certain to be tied up in court challenges for years.
That being said, it is quite obvious that certain religious, fundamentalist neanderthals ( I am sure the neanderthals are insulted with this comparison to religious zealots) are in the process of chipping away at the rights of women.
It is not going to stop with that, they would then move on to non-christians and any one who does not agree with their beliefs.
Sounds very Talibanesque eh?

This debate will never end. We has this debate in school and it was interesting to note that most men were against abortion and a lot of women were pro choice...

I would love to hear under what reasoning did they ban abortions. There has to be some meat behind it. Personally i feel , women have the right to choose, if they feel they are not in the right frame to raise a child, its their call, it shud not be their onus.

It might be worth finding out why the state did what they did. Maybe we are missing an angle here..

Ethan, Certain Christians consider the unborn child to be god's gift and feel the mother has no right to terminate the pregnancy for whatever reason (rape and incest). Some don't even want an exception for a woman life being in danger.
They even oppose any form of birth control whatsoever (condoms, birth control pills like the morning after pill /RU486) and so on.
If that is what your religios belief is I guess it is ok to apply it to yourself. But not to others is what I am saying.

Quite true Jay... and it's definitely not right in passing the law.

I know it does sound Talibanisque, doesn't it? Yet this is America, were we force women to have kids they don't want and do then do nothing to help them raise them once they are born.

Hey, man, easy on the neanderthals. They couldn't help living in the Stone Age.
