Presence

His name borne along a wisp
Whispered in longing
Of silken tresses falling
Across eyes that stripped him bare
His heart and soul all hers

He felt her breath across their divide
His lips awaited the touch
Of her soft fragrant petals
A beacon in this night
Her presence almost ethereal

His arm reached out for her
Only to fall through emptiness
Upon wrinkles on the sheets
The fabric of his life
Ruffled.. never to be ordered again.

*sigh* You write such beautiful poetry Sanjay. Pity that the woman was simply an apparition, but as benign as she was she did have a devastating effect on the man.

I find myself thinking about your poems long after I have read them. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Hi Lotus! How have you been? Thank you for your kind words, and I am not sure I write beautiful poetry, but thank you again.

I agree that her presence while benign does have a profound effect on him. There was a part deux to this but some how I thought it did not fit in there.

I find myself thinking about my poem sometimes after I am done as well. Did I really write that? :)

Such a touching poem. My take on it is more figurative than the obvious meaning. Your dream could be personified as a woman and you feel that you are almost there when it all gets taken away. SIGH....this poem made me sad :-)

Finally had a chance to sit down and really read your poem, and boy did have an effect. Had some bad times recently and a special lady helped me through it, but we are both bound by prior commitments and realized that we had to end our relationship. But she "ruffled" my life in a good way. The first stanza in your poem are my feelings for her.
